2. PLAZA LAS AMÉRICAS

SAN JUAN, PR

Plaza Las Américas is home to over 250 stores including the world’s largest JC Penney store, GAP, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Sears, Sephora, and Macy’s, among many others. This mall also includes a food court and a movie theater.

3. OLD SAN JUAN

Spend a day (or more) exploring Old San Juan. The wonderful history of this city includes 2 forts, cobbled streets, a cathedral, several historical churches and chapels, open air plazas, museums, and numerous bars and restaurants.

4. EL YUNQUE

RÍO GRANDE, PUERTO RICO

Located in Río Grande, el Yunque National Forest is home to more than 200 species of trees and hundreds of species of plants, as well as an abundance of smaller wildlife. Its peak reaches 3,500 feet above sea level, and the forest covers 43 square miles, including three-quarters of the island’s remaining virgin forest. Some of the main highlights are La Coca Falls, Yokahú Tower, Baño Grande, Baño de Oro, and La Mina Falls.

6. CUEVA VENTANA

ARECIBO, PR

Cueva Ventana sits atop a limestone cliff in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Visitors who complete the hike get to look out the cave’s window overlooking a beautiful valley below. The cave isn’t that deep, so you don’t need a high level of fitness to explore it.

7. ARECIBO RADIO TELESCOPE

ARECIBO, PR

The Arecibo Radio Telescope features a 20-acre dish set in a sinkhole. It is here where astronomers have proved the “music of the stars” (pulsars and quasars), while examining the moon, the earth’s ionosphere, and other planets. The setting is amazing and the complexity of the Observatorio de Arecibo is impressive.

8. THE RIO CAMUY CAVE PARK

CAMUY, PR

The Rio Camuy Cave Park features a huge cave system covering 268 acres and features various rooms, in some cases with extremely high ceilings, stalagmites, and stalactites, and rivers rushing along the base. This cave system is believed to be the third largest in the world.

9. CAJA DE MUERTOS ISLAND

PONCE, PUERTO RICO

Caja de Muertos is located off the coast of the city of Ponce on the south of the Island. This uninhabited island offers a great hiking trail leading to lighthouse ruins, majestic views, and a secluded gorgeous beach, where you can enjoy a full day of suntanning, hiking and snorkeling. You can get there by ferry or charter boat.
